About Ashlie Schlatweiler

Ashlie Schlatweiler, M.M., MT-BC is a graduate of Illinois State University with a master’s degree in Music Therapy.  Ashlie is also certified in Louisiana to teach Kindergarten through 12th grade music, with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois.
While completing her master’s degree in Music Therapy, Ashlie completed an internship at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.  During her 6 months there, Ashlie worked with patients from infancy through the late teenage years.  Ashlie worked primarily with children with Traumatic Brain Injuries and Spinal Cord Injuries through the in-patient rehabilitation unit, but also provided care to those on various units throughout the hospital.  Therapeutic sessions included focus on developmental and academic concepts, socialization and normalization during hospitalization, relaxation, and developing coping strategies.  Through practicum courses at Illinois State University, Ashlie provided group music therapy sessions at the Bloomington Housing Authority and Tazewell County Resource Center Day Program for adult clients with intellectual and developmental disabilities and for Pre-K students at Sugar Creek Elementary School to supplement the early intervention program provided by the school.

Ashlie has worked both in schools and privately since 2013.  Ashlie previously taught general music, choir, and band for ages Pre-K through 8th grade.  Ashlie previously worked for the Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts across their three New Orleans area locations and Kidder Music in Peoria, Illinois.  Ashlie has primarily taught voice, piano, trombone, and percussion lessons for children ages 4 through adulthood.  Ashlie has provided adapted piano, voice, and percussion lessons for clients with a variety of areas of need, including clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder and intellectual and developmental disabilities.

 

About Bethany Byrom

Bethany Byrom graduated from William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 2013. As a requirement of her program, she completed her student teaching internship, where she assisted in directing a middle school show choir and taught general music in a classroom setting. Since then, she has been teaching private piano and voice lessons full time to students of all ages, as well as music theory and preschool music classes.
